Comox Valley Emergency Program Activates Warming Centre

The Comox Valley Emergency Program along with community partners have activated warming centres from December 19th to 24th. The extensions are approved on a 24hr cycle, and based on forecasted temperatures at or below -4* , plus a winter storm warning. Warming centre locations include:
Downtown Courtenay
- Location: Connect, 685 Cliffe Ave, Courtenay (additional space is now available due to recent renovations)
- Hours: 20:00 to 0800 – hours subject to change without notice due to staffing challenges. For more info call 250-897-0511
Denman Island
- Location: 1196 Northwest Rd, Denman Island (DI Community Hall)
- Hours: Monday, Dec 19th through Wednesday, Dec 21st 20:00-0800 (overnight only)
Hornby Island
- Location: 3875 Central Rd. (Hornby Island Ballpark Clubhouse)
- Hours: Limited (due to lack of staffing capacity, this warming centre location may only be activated during power outages)
CVEP will continue to monitor the weather, and will provide updates to residents, service providers and operators of warming centre locations, when and where appropriate.
