Village Working with Collector on Delayed Solid Waste Collection

Village staff are working with the solid waste collector on resolving issues related to recurring delayed and missed collections due to a number of factors, including staff shortages and equipment failures.
We recognize the impacts of delayed and missed collections for Cumberland residents and businesses, and that missed collections also increases risks to wildlife.
If your solid waste is not collected by 7 p.m. on collection day, please bring in any food waste containers and store overnight in a secure location, then return to the curb by 8 a.m. the following morning. If your waste remains uncollected at the end of the following day, please contact Emterra directly at 250-336-8066.
To help collectors, please remember to
- use containers with carrying handles and waterproof cover and less than 120 litres in volume (please do not use bags)
- limit the weight of your containers to no more than 22kg (50lbs)
